In recent years, shelters have made dramatic improvements to their protective capabilities as well as being able to stand up to the most extreme environments.
These advancements typically feature visually impressive tests that focus on a shelter’s thermal stability, flame resistance, ease of decontamination, the longevity of the material, and potential leakage points. But after all the dust clears, these improvements are only skin deep.
When human lives are at stake, above all else, shelters need to have an answer for providing protection in the face of chemical or biological attacks. However, this is usually easier said than done.
Because a bio-threat can often be invisible, it is critical that shelters can sterilize the air in the event of a containment breach.
Our SteriSpace Air Sterilization technology was developed through a series of programs funded by the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD), designed to mitigate probable bio-terrorism threats.
In these programs, SteriSpace consistently achieved a kill rate of >99.9999% (6-log) against diverse biological challenges, including bacterial spores, vegetative bacteria, viruses, and even an anthrax simulant. By definition, anything falling below this level is not sterilization.
Following extensive testing funded by the DOD, SteriSpace has proven effective against biological warfare agents for the military, homeland security personnel, and their support teams, proving itself an ideal match for a wide variety of military operations.
Beyond its ability to eradicate agents of biological warfare, SteriSpace can also protect military and government personnel from many viral airborne pathogens such as SARS-CoV-2, influenza, measles, chickenpox, cryptococcus, and tuberculosis.
By including a catalyst in the sterilization process, SteriSpace can even eliminate environmental pollutants, VOCs, and select industrial chemicals.
SteriSpace is military-grade technology: tested to remain fully operational in 0°F to 125°F, heavy rain, high wind, or dusty conditions. Further, SteriSpace is reliable and ruggedly constructed to protect the system from vibration, equipped with forklift pockets to aid movement and placement, allowing the 250 CFM unit to be transported long distances over rough terrain.
This means, that when situations require the quick deployment of emergency shelters, SteriSpace goes where you go, ready to work.
SteriSpace is quick and easy to set up with shelters of all types. The unit comes with a digital, programmable controller and computer automation to monitor system performance remotely.
Also, unlike HEPA, SteriSpace does not require a filter to remain operational. Therefore, workers aren’t exposed to hazardous HEPA filters and there are no filter exposure problems. This cuts down on time spent disposing of filters, allowing operations to remain lightweight and mission-focused, and reducing military and government personnel being put in additional harm’s way.
